Grundon wins Best Waste Management Supplier at the Festival Supplier Awards

Grundon Waste Management’s Special Events team is celebrating after taking top honours in the Best Toilets / Waste Management category at the Festival Supplier Awards 2020.

The winners were announced on Thursday, January 30 at the Hurlingham Club, London, in front of a star-studded audience from the events management world.

Grundon’s success was built on its partnership and education approach, working alongside event organisers to achieve goals including zero waste to landfill and increased recycling, as well as implementing innovative ideas to increase sustainability.

Representatives from the AELTC, LSS Facilities Management, and CarFest South joined the Grundon team to collect the award on the night and celebrated alongside them on the stage.

Shaun Workman, Grundon’s Regional Sales Manager, explains: “We’re absolutely delighted and thrilled to have won. It shows that, by working closely together with event teams and our fellow contractors, such as cleaning suppliers, we can make a real difference.”

“Good education is essential, we invited event organisers around our recycling facilities to bring home the importance of issues such as segregation; we make sure information and signage for the public is easy to understand; and, where needed, we even have teams on the ground providing practical guidance on recycling, so there can be no excuses.”

A commendation read out on the night said: “Judges described this company as every festival promoters’ dream and were extremely impressed with their sustainable initiatives.”

The awards entry showcased Grundon’s achievements with customers including The Championships 2019, Wimbledon and CarFest South, for whom it delivered highly-successful sustainable waste management programmes.

Activities at the two events included training for event personnel, green teams and eco-champions; producing information packs for different event audiences.

At CarFest, a competition was run to help engage all generations in the recycling message; while at Wimbledon, Grundon’s new cup recycling service was introduced and new-style bins installed to handle specific waste streams.
