Our journey so far
2014
CarbonNeutral® fleet since 2014. From cookstoves and water infrastructure, to deforestation and solar energy, we’ve supported seven projects across the globe through our carbon offsetting programme
2023
In 2023, we generated 12,676 MWh power within our own facilities and reduced energy usage by 6%
Today
79% carbon reduction since 2000 while growing the business by over 270% and doubling our number of employees
2040
Committed to net zero
We first measured our environmental impact in 2000 by looking at Scope 1 and 2 emissions and have continued to do so each year.
Statistics show while we managed 60% more waste in 2022 than we did in 2000, we emitted less than a quarter of the 2000 CO2e total. In real terms, we brought the amount of carbon emissions per tonne of waste down from a figure of 579kg in 2000, to 95kg CO2e over a 22-year period.
Reducing carbon since 2000
Grundon’s total CO2 emissions (Scope 1 & 2)
2025 Target
Reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 5% year-on-year against our 2022 baseline, in line with science-based targets
2025 Commitments
Obtain planning permission for a solar farm at Beenham and progress towards construction
Reduce CO2 emissions produced from our commercial fleet by 5%
Continue electrifying the fleet and diversify by introducing zero emission skip, rolonof and articulated vehicles
Establish a facility to process difficult to recycle materials such as paper towels and compostables
Engage with suppliers to improve activity-based data and enhance Scope 3 accuracy
Increase the amount of electricity supplied to sites from our own renewable generation assets
