Collecting the award for Grundon Waste Management were Ankur Srivastava, Transfer Station Assistant Manager; John Clark, Depot Operations Manager; James Gilbert, Environment & Energy Manager; Ellie Clements, Environment & Energy Technician; Toni Robinson, Compliance Manager; Stephen Townsend, Group Fleet Engineer.

Stephen Roscoe, Grundon’s Technical Director, who attended with his colleagues, said: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised by the judges as a leading green business in Oxfordshire. Being a local company, we are doubly pleased for our employees, many of whom live in the county, and it’s a special thank you to them for all their efforts.

“We work hard to do our best for the environment and are continually seeking new and innovative ways to further improve and enhance our own green credentials. We also know that our customers appreciate the many different ways in which we can help them to adopt smarter ways of working and improve their waste management and recycling practices. It is always rewarding for our employees – and in particular for those involved in hosting the judging – to receive external recognition for their efforts.”

The award, which is new for 2017, recognises businesses that demonstrate good environmental practice and have achieved ongoing waste and emission reductions.

The evening’s success made it three in a row for Grundon, as last year the company was a finalist in The Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Apprenticeship of the Year Award and in 2015, it was named the winner of The NatWest Large Business Award Large Business Award

With its headquarters in Benson and operations throughout the county and the wider Thames Valley, Grundon is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of integrated waste management and environmental solutions.

Last Friday’s black tie dinner was hosted by broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and was attended by more than 500 business leaders and employees. Runners-up in The BRITA Green Award were Go Green Taxis and Polythene UK.
