Grundon recently hosted two Sustainability & Innovation days, demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability. These events brought together colleagues and customers to explore new ideas, technologies and initiatives shaping the future of waste management.
The first day welcomed Grundon’s Commercial team, offering colleagues the chance to learn more about the company’s sustainability goals, discover innovative projects across the business and connect with suppliers and each other.
The following day, Grundon opened its doors to customers for a similar experience.
Across both days, the event brought together a range of suppliers – Vegware, Greenredeem, Bigbelly, Limetrack, REEN, Greenly and PDE Waste Technologies – who exhibited their own products and solutions. Attendees had the opportunity to explore new ideas and learn more about how these technologies can enhance waste management and recycling performance within their own organisations.
Throughout the day, attendees also enjoyed a series of informative presentations, hosted by Grundon’s Alex Grant, Sustainability Manager, Nick Palmer, Innovation Manager and other suppliers.
Catch all the action in our video below.
In her presentation, Alex brought attendees up to speed with some of Grundon’s recent sustainability achievements, such as reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 11% between 2023 and 2024. She also highlighted various ways Grundon can support customers on their own sustainability journey, from carrying out onsite assessments to identify waste reduction opportunities, through to joint volunteering opportunities that deliver real social impact.
“It was great to see so many people taking an interest in sustainability and wanting to learn more about how to make a difference. Events like these are a perfect way to share our progress, showcase the support we can offer and inspire new ideas to help everyone reduce their environmental impact,” said Alex.
Later in the day, Nick took to the stage to show some of the latest innovations that Grundon has introduced and explained how these technologies can help organisations improve efficiency and recycling performances. He spoke of his role at Grundon and how he works closely with Grundon’s customers to find practical solutions to tackle their own specific challenges. He also reminded the audience that innovation is a journey of continuous improvement and new ways of thinking, not just one singular a piece of technology.
Nick said “This event was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how Grundon works in partnership with its customers to identify challenges and create innovative solutions that deliver real value and improvement.
“It also allowed us to showcase a range of cutting-edge products and highlight our collaborations, proving that innovation at Grundon isn’t just a promise, but something we actively deliver.”

Throughout the day, customers also had the chance to go on guided tours around our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and Energy from Waste (EfW) plant. The tours offered an insight into how the recyclable materials are sorted and processed at the MRF after they’re collected, as well as how non-recyclable materials are converted into energy via EfW. These tours gave customers a deeper understanding of the full waste journey, from collection to recycling and recovery.
Reflecting on the event, Jack Yarrow, Head of Commercial, said:
“It was brilliant to see such strong engagement from everyone involved, and the success of the day really highlights our shared commitment to driving sustainability and innovation forward.
“We encourage all our customers to get in touch if they have any sustainability or innovation requirements - our team is always happy to explore opportunities and help you take your business’s waste management and recycling to the next level.”
