We are experts providing industrial cleaning services throughout a range of different scenarios. We pride ourselves on our unblemished safety record, our innovative approach and our first class customer service.

With over 40 years’ experience providing specialist decontamination, environmental cleaning and industrial services, you can be confident that you will receive a comprehensive and professional service.

Typically, our work will include pollution control, HAZPACK/HAZMAT spill response services, working in biologically contaminated buildings, high-level or confined space cleaning, pressure washing of tanks and vessels, and increasingly, the removal and clean-up of fly-tipped waste.

We have successfully managed projects across a multitude of industries and speedy, methodical and cost-effective solution.

Safety is our number one priority and our aim is to ensure we keep your assets and property fully serviceable, whilst complying with HSE and environmental legislation.

Working in confined spaces presents many dangers, from high temperatures to explosive atmospheres, which is why full risk assessments and method statements are a key part of the process before work can begin.

Confined space training is also put to good use with our tank and vessel cleaning services, where work typically includes solvent tanks, water tanks/Legionella sterilisation, hazardous chemical tanks, drainage, pits and culverts. Often we are dealing with waste products such as heavy fuel oil, resins and inks.

Our high-level access cleaning operatives are trained by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to safely access those difficult to reach areas and are experienced in performing hazardous environment cleaning at height, ensuring minimum impact on business operations.

The same skills enable us to safely clean architectural sites and structures in both internal and external environments.

We provide deep cleaning and off-site remediation services for a diverse range of sectors, including the leisure and hospitality industry (spas, swimming pools, commercial kitchens), as well as manufacturing and industrial sectors. We also work for private individuals.

Another opportunity for us to use our skills is in disaster recovery and restoration. If the worst should happen, our experts can quickly and efficiently put a disaster recovery plan into place, helping to protect your business from the ravages of fire, flood, spill or environmental damage, ensuring you are back up-and-running as quickly as possible.

We also operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to help remove the build-up and debris found in tanks, vessels and lines across a wide range of industries including, construction, marine, aviation and manufacturing.

In the event of any hazardous spillages, our expert spill recovery team is trained to provide a rapid response. We are trained to make quick and informed decisions during incidents, quickly targeting, limiting and reducing the spill, preventing any further discharge and minimising potential environmental damage.

Our experts specialise in hazardous waste cleaning, classification, decontamination, packaging and disposal services for a wide range of industry sectors including the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, educational establishments such as universities and schools, and the healthcare sector.

For example, our mercury detection and clean-up service is aimed primarily at dental surgeries, hospitals and laboratories, where mercury spills can often go undetected. Our innovative mercury clean-up service is capable of identifying and cleaning up even the tiniest traces of the liquid metal, reducing the time taken for a clean-up operation from a full day, to just one hour – leaving the premises with full clean room status.

Other projects include facility decommissioning, surfaces decontamination, air handling systems, deep cleaning, waste identification and the packaging and subsequent safe and compliant transportation and disposal of such waste.

Our service includes all plant and equipment types, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, underground storage tanks, mixing and blending vessels, pipework and effluent treatment systems.

We also have access to specialist lifting, removal and transportation equipment. This means that if required we can provide options for the relocation or disposal of your plant.

Increasingly, we are being asked to help with fly tip clearances, including the identification, clean up, transport and waste disposal. We can collect all major waste types, including chemical, biological, drug litter and asbestos waste.

Our team is able to respond quickly to requests, arranging initial assessments and all relevant documentation. Our fully trained operatives and in-house chemists have the knowledge and expertise to provide a fully comprehensive and professional service.

Our extensive experience includes providing services to, and working alongside, both in the UK and internationally, for non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international agencies, governments and major companies around the world.

Our skills and knowledge are built on over 40 years’ experience, our teams are trained to the highest level and have the latest PPE and necessary equipment. We are fully qualified, licensed and registered with OFTEC, CHAS, and comply with all current environmental and HSE legislation.

Our proactive approach means we recognise that each project is bespoke and we will work closely with you to plan each stage and help keep disruption to a minimum. We understand that many cleaning operations can only take place during company shutdown periods, such as Christmas and New Year, and we are committed to servicing your business throughout holiday periods.

Who do you work with? + -

Everyone from major manufacturers and centres of research excellence to universities and research laboratories; local authorities, healthcare establishments; the leisure and hospitality sectors (for example spas and hotels), as well as private individuals.

Our service is bespoke, so no matter how big or small our customer, we promise the same level of expertise.

Are your services expensive? + -

The most important element of these difficult and challenging projects is the safety of employees (our and yours), together with compliance and security. We make these issues a priority and, while there may be companies which offer reduced prices, if you choose to work with us it will be safe in the knowledge you have chosen a team which achieves outstanding results, has 40+ years’ of experience and an unblemished safety record.

We also work hard to bring innovative new ideas and technology to market, such as our mercury detector and vacuum, which dramatically reduces the time involved in mercury clean-up operations and therefore helps keep costs down.

How soon should I start planning my industrial cleaning programme? + -

The earlier we can become involved, the better we can work to your timetable. For example, we know maintenance in the manufacturing sector often takes place during periods such as the summer or Christmas holidays when production lines stop for a limited time. By talking to us in advance, we can ensure we meet your needs at a time that suits you and creates minimum disruption for the business. We take a very flexible approach and you can always call us to discuss your ideas.

What size of customers do you service? + -

We work for a range of customers, from large commercial organisations through to spas and private customers who may wish to have swimming pools or sculptures cleaned. Recently, we undertook a restoration project for a large hotel which required its pool and spa area to be deep cleaned to remove all traces of limescale deposits, legacy scum, mould and mildew.

I run a dental surgery, how do I know if I have mercury waste? + -

Mercury spills often go undetected in a variety of healthcare locations. These spillages can be caused by equipment breakages and even small amounts of mercury vapours can be dangerous. Our specialist mercury vacuum is an innovative piece of equipment – capable of identifying and cleaning up even the tiniest traces of the liquid metal, reducing the time taken for a clean-up operation from a full day, to just one hour – leaving the premises with full clean room status.

What qualifications and training do your staff undergo? + -

All are operatives are fully qualified, licensed and registered with OFTEC, CHAS, and comply with all current environmental and HSE legislation. They regularly undertake additional specialist training courses, such as the Construction Site Certification Scheme (CSCS) and a confined spaces training course where they have to practice escaping a confined space wearing breathing apparatus.

Such attention to detail also means they are up-to-speed with the latest legislation and compliance issues, in turn, this enables them to give advice to our customers about what they should be doing.

We also make sure they have access to the latest PPE and respirator equipment so they can cope with whatever conditions they may face.

We’re proud of our unblemished safety record and our 40+ years of industrial cleaning expertise.

In addition, all our tanker drivers are fully ADR trained and licensed to carry Dangerous Goods by Road. This enables Grundon to transport a range of hazardous liquid wastes.

How closely do you work with your customers? + -

Extremely closely indeed. Depending on the size of the project we will work directly with the management team, or with facilities managers, estate management, maintenance teams etc. The more information we can share and understand about the project, the easier it is for us.

What are some of the most difficult challenges you’ve dealt with? + -

Access can often be an issue – we worked on one project where the laboratory facilities were on the fourth floor of a building with no lift and very narrow stairs, so we had to be very clever in the way we managed the arrival of our equipment.

High-level cleaning brings its own challenges, especially when you are carrying cleaning equipment and cameras, but our expert teams are very experienced and will always find a way to succeed.

For another industrial customer, we carry out annual cleaning of giant vessels used for mixing bitumen, rubbers and oils. Over time, these materials can accumulate on the sides, reducing capacity and efficiency of the motor and mixing blades. We undertake this very complex cleaning task in a two-day period over the Christmas shutdown, ensuring business continuity is unaffected.

How do you dispose of the waste products? + -

We offer a complete hazardous waste classification, packaging and disposal service. This includes the indexing, categorisation and packaged of all chemicals and other waste products into United Nations (UN) approved packaging, meeting the requirements for specialist transportation and disposal.

All tanker drivers are fully ADR trained and licensed to carry Dangerous Goods by Road. This enables Grundon to transport a range of hazardous liquid wastes and materials will are taken for treatment at our own facilities, which include a Hazardous Waste Transfer Station.

How quickly can you respond to emergencies? + -

We offer an emergency response service with the ability to identify and analyse a contamination or spillage. Then we will contain it, package and remove the waste for specialist disposal, then high pressure jet clean the area with specialised enzyme-based environmentally considerate clean-up chemicals and materials.

In the event of a disaster, how quickly can you help get my business up-and-running again? + -

Clearly it will depend on the extent of the damage but recently we helped a pharmaceutical customer who had suffered fire and soot damage to their flagship research facilities. This left critical experimental laboratories inaccessible to their scientists and jeopardised ‘live’ experiments.

Our experienced fire damage restoration crew was mobilised and deployed to the research facilities, where over a 48-hour period they restored the facility to allow safe access and the continuation of research. As a result of our actions, business operations at the facilities were only minimally impacted.

Do you provide proof of disposal so I can keep track of paperwork? + -

Yes we do. We provide all the necessary certification which shows the work has been carried out to meet all legislation and compliant regulations.
