Grundon has been shortlisted in the category of Health & Safety Best Practice and will be put forward as a finalist to the judging panel. All winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which takes place at the Grosvenor Square Marriott Hotel, London on the afternoon of Thursday 10th November.
The number of fatal accidents in the waste and resource management industry is 10 times the national average and as the number of people employed in the industry grows, and treatment and collection options increase, it is vitally important that the number of accidents does not rise. A great deal of work is being done in the industry at the moment to promote health and safety best practice and this award shows an organisation’s commitment to improving its health and safety performance in the waste and resource management sector.
The award recognises the results achieved through best practice in health and safety. Initiatives, training, technical improvement, behaviour change and communications that demonstrate its contribution to an improvement in health and safety (possibly through an exemplary accident record) are all considered.
Commenting on the announcement, Toni Robinson, Compliance Manager said: “This is fantastic news and reflects the significant progress we have made within the company recently, re-educating the entire workforce in the importance of Health & Safety and putting in place robust processes and procedures to support them”Back to news
