Independent auditors from BSI Group recently completed a 4-day audit of Grundon’s systems and procedures with a recommendation that the company’s application for OHSAS18001 be approved.
OHSAS 18001 is a British standard for occupational health and safety management.
In her final report the lead auditor commented that Grundon’s system was ‘one of the most robust systems I have seen and it is evident that the right resources and the right people with the right knowledge have been involved in its development.’
Addressing Grundon’s compliance team on behalf of the Board, Technical Director Steve Roscoe added: “attaining the certification after such a rigorous and professional audit makes the outcome all the more meaningful.
We still face a challenge to develop and implement compliant systems across the entire business and then to attain and maintain accreditation. You have set a very high standard and I am confident that with you all acting as ambassadors of good practice, we will gain certification for the business as a whole.”
Grundon remains firmly on track to achieve formal certification to ISO9001 (Quality) to add to our existing certification of ISO14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS18001 at 3 of our key sites, Colnbrook, Ewelme and Bishops Cleeve, by the end of September 2011.
By July 2012 all functions within the Grundon business will be included in the certification, and Grundon Waste Management will also hold certification for an Integrated Management System to PAS 99.Back to news
