In December 2009 Grundon was selected to take part in the Royal Warrant Holders Association (RWHA) Christmas Fair, held at Buckingham Palace. This was a particular privilege for us as our warrant had only been granted at the beginning of the year, and we knew that competition for places would be very keen.

The main objective of the RWHA is to ensure the continued existence of the Royal Warrant as a treasured and respected institution by maintaining standards amongst warrant holders and representing them in their dealings with the Royal Household.

Royal Warrants are a mark of recognition to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales. There are around 850 Royal Warrant Holders representing a huge cross-section of trade and industry. They range from traditional craftspeople to global and multinational firms operating at the cutting edge of technology.

The aims of the trade fair were to showcase warrant holders’ goods & services to members of the Royal Household, and also to promote trade between the warrant holders themselves. The one-day fair was staged in the magnificent setting of the state dining rooms.

A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and the event proved to be a busy one for Grundon, with a great deal of interest shown in our recycling services and the new Energy from Waste plant.

Notwithstanding the venue, we were surprised and delighted that Her Majesty The Queen took time out of her busy schedule to visit the Fair and chat with a number of the exhibitors, Grundon included.
