Official Take Over for Lakeside Energy from Waste plant

Lakeside Energy from Waste Ltd – the joint venture between Grundon Waste Management and Viridor – has announced that as part of a phased commissioning programme, Take Over of the plant from the EPC contractor Itochu/Takuma has been achieved.

The Take Over follows a successful demonstration of operability over a trial period involving waste combustion, energy generation and connection to the National Grid.

There will now be a staggered inspection shutdown of the plant over eight days. This will be followed by 60 days of performance trials to demonstrate the reliability of the facility and test various contract performance parameters.

The award winning £160 million plant close to the M25/M4 junction has a design throughput of 410,000 tpa and is capable of generating up to 37 MW of power – enough to provide the domestic power needs of c.50,000 homes.

Lakeside Energy from Waste Ltd is also delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Coulston as its new General Manager. 47-year-old Danny is an engineer with an MBA who has held similar positions in the process industry.
