The Environment Agency staged its annual flagship conference and exhibition in the run-up to the recent UN Climate Change Summit. Environment 09 took place at London’s QE11 Conference Centre on 9th & 10th November.
On both days, a packed auditorium was informed by a series of wide ranging presentations addressing every facet of the environmental debate, including climate change, flood management, sustainable energy production and waste management.
The international speaker line–up included Lord Adair Turner, Lord Browne of Madingley, Will Day, Professor David MacKay and Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for Environment. Following each session, a series of lively debates were chaired by Elinor Goodman, former political editor of Channel 4 News.
During breaks in the programme delegates were able to visit the exhibition area, where Grundon took the opportunity to showcase its ongoing Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and also its brand new Lakeside Energy from Waste plant at Colnbrook, near Heathrow Terminal 5.
