Grundon Waste Management’s top-ranked Special Events Services team has been shortlisted in the prestigious Festival Supplier Awards 2017.
The team impressed the judges in the Best Toilets / Waste Management category, for its work at Oxfordshire’s Wallingford BunkFest, where it helped the organisers achieve zero waste to landfill and increased recycling rates.
The achievement follows last year’s success, when Grundon took the title of Best Waste Management Company.
Peter Kent, Depot Operations & Event Manager, said: “We’re thrilled and delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2017 award.
“Consistency and excellence in customer service is something we pride ourselves on, so to have our efforts recognised once again in what will be a hard-fought category, is praise indeed.”
Wallingford BunkFest, which is thought to be the biggest free folk festival in the UK, celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2016. Held in September, it attracted around 20,000 visitors, with three days of music, dance, arts and workshops at a variety of local venues, plus a Beer Festival, a raft of food stalls and a campsite.
Overall, some 25% of waste was recycled, with the remainder going to Energy from Waste to generate electricity which was exported into the National Grid. In addition, the introduction of a dedicated new food waste collection service helped boost recycling figures.
This year’s Festival Supplier Awards have seen the new combined category for Best Toilets and Best Waste Management. The winner will be announced at The Festival Supplier Awards’ ceremony and gala dinner on Thursday, 26 January, at the Hurlingham Club, London.Back to news
