Health & Safety Legislation...

Please be advised of the following new and pending legislation:

  • Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
  • Work at Height Regulations 2005
  • Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres (Amendment) Regulations 2005
  • Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 will come into force on 6 April 2006 and will revoke and replace the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 1989

In addition, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 will come into force in April 2006. It will repeal Fire Precautions Act 1971 and revoke and replace:

  • Fire Certificate (Special Premises) Regulations 1976
  • Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997
  • and Fire Precautions (Workplace) (Amendment) Regulations 1999

Draft proposals to introduce new (or amend existing) legislation currently under review include:

  • Corporate Manslaughter Bill
  • Review of Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
  • Consultation on Smoke Free Elements of the Health Improvement and Protection Bill
  • Proposals to amend Genetically Modified Organisms Regulations
  • Proposals to amend Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2002
  • and Proposals to amend and consolidate the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 and the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996
