The quantity of paper being recycled can be increased by the introduction of desktop recycling boxes. This actively encourages staff to recycle paper at their desks and helps prevent paper being put into desk side waste paper bins.
All paper collections are taken and recycled at UK or European paper mills. It is here that publications such as magazines and newspapers are de-inked, mixed with virgin pulp and then remade into paper.
Recycling a tonne of paper saves almost 13 trees. It saves 2.5 barrels of oil, 4100kWh of electricity, 4 cubic metres of landfill and 31,780 litres of water. Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide the paper we use in Britain.
Grundon can recover small quantities of scrap metal through our Transfer stations and Skip Waste Recycling Plant, Precious metals and hazardous metals are reclaimed at our Ewelme Hazardous Waste Transfer Station.
For producers of larger volumes of scrap we can introduce our customers to a wide range of independent, local scrap dealers and ensure that you are getting the best deal for your recovered material.
Drinks cans are easy to recycle through our mixed recyclable Office Collections and including them in a recycling programme leads to higher capture rates for other materials.
