








Using specialized equipment in our Ewelme transfer station, South Oxfordshire, we have the capability to recycle many types of gas cylinders and fire extinguishers.
LPG such as butane and propane are recovered and recycled using our "Hazpak" system. The gases are captured and compressed into large vessels, which are transported to our incinerator at Colnbrook. They are then used as a support fuel, thus reducing the need for natural gas. This helps to preserve this precious natural resource.
Once empty the valves are removed from the LPG cylinders. Both the valves and the cylinders can then be sent away for recycling.
A similar process is applied to most fire extinguishers. The contents are emptied and contained, followed by the removal of the valves and the recycling of the metal components.
Although becoming more rare, we still receive Halon fire extinguishers at the Ewelme transfer station. All halons are consigned for high temperature incineration.
