Recycling Electrical & Electronic Equipment

imageAt Grundon Waste Management LTD we pick up all end of life electrical goods from companies under the new WEEE directive 2002/96/EC.

We distribute the electrical goods to the proper company to be processed for there recyclable materials. Here they extract the hazardous gases, oils etc. The WEEE items are then processed by different methods best designed for the individual product.

imageA good example is of a domestic fridge that would be picked up form a company for disposal. When the fridge arrives at the processors they would safely degas the coolant gasses and drain any oils form the motor. The motor is than stored for shipment to be reused. The shell is put into a special designed machine were the metals and plastics are ground up and separated, while the foam from the fridge is also degassed and separated into bags for recycling. This is just one process designed for the recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment under the new WEEE Directive.
