Wicklesham Quarry at Faringdon, Oxfordshire is the home of this unique sponge gravel.
Coxwell is only available through Grundon.
To achieve the best results it is screened and graded into three products.
This material has earned a prestigious reputation for its attractive natural colour, ease of laying and minimum maintenance required thereafter.
It is screened 35mm down so that, when rolled will give a fine, close textured surface. It is used extensively throughout Southern England and Wales on pathways and cycle tracks in Parks, Country estates and gardens. Please see our laying guidelines for further details.
Coxwell 5mm Path Dressing is similar to the Self-binding path gravel but thanks to a finer texture it can be used to add the finishing surface.
It is used extensively on Golf Courses and sports fields because its unlikely to damage mower blades. Please see our laying guidelines for further details.
This is the ideal sub-base, and is compatible with the Self Binding Path Gravel. It is graded to 50mm down and will compact to form a sound hard sub-base. Please see our laying guidelines for further details.

The London Borough of Richmond laid a 1.8km long cycle way/towpath between Kingston Bridge and Hampton Court Bridge.
The 3m wide pathway was in poor repair, with potholes and loose gravel. Due to the large quantity of gravel to be laid in the short time available it was decided to use a Barber Green Paver to lay the 1,200 tonnes. The base was prepared by scarifying, regrading and compaction to form a very tight base.
The material was laid in just two days and within two tonnes of the bill of quantity.
