Grundon is delighted to announce that it has become a sponsor of the annual Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards, and that it has created a new ‘Green Progress’ award for the 2012 competition.
This award is open to organisations of all sizes based in the Thames Valley, provided they have been in operation for at least one year. It will be awarded to the organisation judged to have made the most progress over the past 12 months in ‘green’ practices. In particular the judges will be seeking evidence of employee involvement, perhaps in the form of ‘Green Champions’ or teams of volunteers that have embraced the need to manage waste and reduce the organisation’s impact on the environment. They will also take into account the Waste Hierarchy, particularly adherence to the ‘4Rs’ – ‘Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Recover’, and evidence of a formalised Environmental Management system or accreditation, e.g. ISO14001.
Commenting on the new award, Deputy Chairman Neil Grundon said: ”All too often we hear how the environment and business are incompatible. Grundon Waste Management wants to help showcase those business success stories that demonstrate care for the environment alongside keen business acumen”.
