As many of you will be well aware, 2012 will see the staging of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London during the period 29th July – 9th September. As part of the extensive preparations to ensure smooth traffic flows to & from the Olympic Stadium in East London, a number of temporary traffic schemes will be implemented across London in particular. These changes, plus the expected substantial increase in daily traffic, will have a significant impact on Grundon’s operations.
The principal change to our service during this period is that we will be following official Transport for London (TfL) recommendations and making as many collections as possible between the hours of Midnight and 6.00am. If you are a Grundon customer, this means we may have to reschedule the collection of your waste such that our vehicle can complete its round and exit the area by 6.00am. Please note that normal daytime collections will be very restricted during this period. Also, and in common with other waste contractors, we anticipate a significant increase in demand for our services during this period, and that additional waste bins will be very scarce.
In order to ensure our temporary arrangements are successfully established before the Olympics commence, we will introduce revised collection arrangements with effect from Monday June 18th.
To help us minimise the potential disruption to your own operations, please give some thought now to what impact the Olympic Games may have on your own business, and let us know as soon as possible if you foresee any particular difficulties. For example:
If you are an existing customer of Grundon and need to discuss the contents of this letter, please contact our Help Desk on 01491 834311.
We appreciate that some measure of disruption to your waste collection will be unavoidable for reasons entirely outside our control. However, please be assured that we will do everything possible to keep this to a minimum
