New regulations came into force in July 2004 restricting most landfill sites from accepting hazardous waste. If you are currently a Grundon customer and have Waste Wheeler containers, Front End Loader containers, Skips, Rolonof containers or Compactors, you can no longer dispose of hazardous materials in these containers.
This may include the following:
Grundon have for many years provided collection and disposal of hazardous waste, although normally in much larger quantities using very large collection vehicles and with considerable haulage costs. The new Haz-Box service has been developed specifically for customers producing smaller quantities of hazardous waste and provides a convenient and low cost option ensuring that waste producers remain compliant with all disposal legislation.
Utilising the innovative technologies available at our Hazardous Waste Transfer Station in Oxfordshire, the Haz-Box service not only ensures compliance, but also enables the waste producer to recycle a number of their hazardous waste-streams.
Upon signing up to the Haz-Box service, customers take ownership of a plastic, lidded storage box, which is then emptied on either a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly frequency. The Haz-Box is suitable for the storage of waste items that are no greater than 5 kgs/lts. Larger hazardous waste items, for example PC screens, fluorescent tubes and fridges/freezers can then be collected alongside this service. This ensures that all hazardous wastes are managed in an efficient, responsible, environmental and legally compliant manner.
