Approval for 'Super MRF' in Oxfordshire

Grundon Waste Management has received planning permission for a materials recovery facility - a “super MRF” - in Oxfordshire.

The new plant, will handle up to 150,000 tonnes of material each year, and is designed to operate 24-hours-a-day and accept recyclable household waste and commercial and industrial wastes.  This facility will create 72 new jobs.  It will be sited close to Oxford city centre at Kidlington and is ideally located to the A34 trunk road network.  Construction of the plant will start in the next four months and be completed next year.

Grundon Managing Director Richard Skehens says,

“We are delighted that planning has finally been granted for this “super MRF” and Oxfordshire, which currently exports most of its recoverable waste, will now have an in-County facility which will cut down unnecessary lorry traffic.  Grundon are also seeking consent for a MRF in Cherwell which will provide much needed facilities for north Oxfordshire. The two plants will complement each other and help to provide self sufficiency for the County.”
