Job Purpose
To assist with the day-to-today operation of the Transfer Station. Operate waste processing equipment, unload and load lorries, help to keep the site clean and tidy and assist with the inspection and segregation of waste. Promote high standard towards work, health and safety.
Key Duties
Transfer Station Labourer
- Operate Forklift trucks competently and safely.
- Operate the waste processing equipment on site competently and safely.
- Assist with Technical Chemists when required.
- Go off site to help the Technical drivers on customer's sites.
- Sweep and jet wash the yard to keep the Transfer Station clean and tidy.
- To keep the offices and canteen clean and tidy.
- Be aware of personal responsibilities towards and health and safely.
- Liase with the site Safety Representative to promote high standards of safety.
Key Skills / Experience
- Competent at operating machinery and plant safely.
- Basic understanding of the hazards of materials received at the transfer station.
- Capable of working outside.
- Able to work within potentially difficult environments ie: wearing protective suits and respirators.
- Strong desire to learn.
- Strong team worker with ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work in busy environments.
- Work within precise and stringent deadlines.
- Flexible towards working hours to ensure the smooth operation of the Transfer Station.

- Ability to offer ideas and thoughts for discussion to promote the development of the Transfer Station and Department.
