Latest additions to collection fleet unveiled at RWM07

Grundon was delighted to unveil the latest additions to its collection fleet at the recent RWM07 Show at the NEC.

Prominently displayed on the DAF stand was one of two new front-end loader (FEL) waste collection vehicles. Based on the DAF CF 85 Euro 5 chassis featuring the latest in exhaust emission control technology, complemented by a transmission and power take-off system controlled by the vehicle’s Canbus system to deliver optimum fuel efficiency and driver comfort and safety.

The vehicles are unique in being the first to combine this chassis with the UK-manufactured Heil body. In developing the body Heil worked closely with Grundon to overcome a number of issues previously encountered in the collection and compaction of light mixed recyclables. In particular the lifting mechanism has been modified to accept the addition of load cells which, when fitted, will enable Grundon to weigh individual containers.

Grundon has also taken delivery of a DAF FAT CF 75 waste wheeler vehicle with the Heil Powerlink body employing the same technologies.

Both will replace older vehicles as part of Grundon’s rolling fleet replacement policy.  The company continually reviews its vehicle specifications to ensure that mechanical and fuel efficiency along with operator ergonomics are of the highest standard.
