Monitoring...

landfill imageOngoing, detailed research programmes are aimed at achieving constant improvement in areas such as containment, leachate gas monitoring and control, and site restoration. Our landfills are lined with clay of measured impermeability or with a combination of clay and an impermeable lining material - all tested and installed under an approved quality assurance and constructing control programme. Each site incorporates provision for the collection and removal of leachate and for all monitoring.

Setting the standard for Best Practice

landfill imageGrundon landfill sites comply with all relevant legislation and official guidelines - including British Standards and codes of practice where appropriate. We are committed to implementing and maintaining Total Quality Management.

To make the most effective use of increasingly scarce natural resources, Grundon actively searches out the most economical and practical ways of reducing and minimising the amount of waste destined for landfilling.

At our Colnbrook site, we pioneered the high density baling of waste. At the same location we are now developing a totally enclosed materials recycling facility (MRF). With a capacity of 200,00 TPA, the facility will recover up to 50% of trade and commercial waste for recycling.
