The Hazardous Waste Landfill at Bishops Cleeve is operated under stringent controls to minimise the impact the operation has on the local environment. Extensive monitoring is carried out throughout the landfilling process, from independent construction quality assurance, during the engineering of the individual landfill areas, to extensive environmental monitoring following restoration.
Prior to any load of Hazardous waste being accepted at the site, our Technical Department has to approve its suitability for disposal. Our chemists within the Technical Department will check the information provided by the customer about the waste, and if necessary carry out further analysis to ensure its suitability. Once approved a specific reference number is given to the waste, this assists with the waste audit process.
The landfill is operated in compliance with permit BU 3671, which is regulated by the Environment Agency.
