Hazardous Waste
Dedicated Vehicles...

HIAB

Hazardous ImageThe HIAB vehicle has the capacity to collect up to 14 pallets of waste, weighing up to a total of 13 tonnes. It has drop-sides, a tail-lift rated at over one tonne and is equipped with a crane. This combination gives it great flexibility and enables it to deliver and collect large containers at sites where there is no forklift.

The HIAB vehicle is used for the collection and transportation of: Grunsafes, drums, palletised wastes, boxes and even small skips containing light wastes.

Rigid Curtainsiders

Hazardous ImageWe operate a number of rigid curtainside vehicles, all equipped with tail-lifts. These range from an 11-tonne vehicle with the capability of transporting up to 10 pallets, weighing up to a total of 6 tonnes, through to a 26-tonne vehicle with the capability of transporting up to 14 pallets, weighing up to a total of 15 tonnes.

They are used for the collection and transportation of: Grunsafes, drums, palletised wastes, boxes and bags. As they are enclosed, light bagged wastes and weather affected containers can be carried without the need for secondary containment.

Articulated Vehicle

The Technical Department operates one articulated vehicle, dedicated to the collection of hazardous waste. Due to its capacity, it demonstrates the most efficient method to transport large volumes of waste and thus reduces the impact on the environment.

It is used to collect the same container types as the curtainside vehicles, although its capacity is greater.

Box-Vans

Hazardous ImageDue to their small size the box-vans offer a cost effective way to collect and transport small volumes of hazardous wastes. They are ideal vehicles for the Haz-Box service, as well as for the clearance of laboratory chemicals and other wastes from research and teaching laboratories.

Skips and Rollon-offs

Hazardous ImageFor bulk wastes such as asbestos, contaminated packaging, ducting and equipment, filtercakes and soils the Technical Department is able to supply a wide range of skips and rollon-off containers. These include both open and enclosed units. The rollon-off containers can be supplied up to a size of 30 cubic metres (40 cubic yards), with capacities of up to 14 tonnes.

Our operational area for hazardous waste collections covers most of the U.K. All hazardous waste enquiries should be sent to the Technical Department, at the Ewelme depot:
