Grundon has developed some of the most advanced and comprehensive programmes in the world for producing energy from waste.
All our sites are monitored for landfill gas production and migration - and wherever possible the excess gas is used to provide power for nearby industry.
Our new joint venture Lakeside Energy from Waste (EfW) plant at Colnbrook is virtually complete and presently undergoing commissioning. When fully operational the plant will be able to process 410,000 tonnnes of residual waste per year from businesses and local authorities. Besides generating enough electricity to meet its own needs, the plant will also export 37MW to the National Grid – enough to power 64,500 homes, equivalent to a town the size of Aylesbury.
Lakeside EfW has also been designed with the potential to export surplus heat, thus making it a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, as and when the local infrastructure become available to support this process.
