Grundon shortlisted for festival awards at the double

Grundon Waste Management has achieved the twin accolade of being shortlisted in two categories at the Festival Supplier Awards 2018.

The company is a finalist for both the Best Toilets/Waste Management Award and the Best Supplier Award, with the winners being announced at a sparkling gala dinner on 25 January at the Hurlingham Club in London.

Anthony Foxlee-Brown, Head of Marketing & Communications, said: “We are all thrilled and delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. Our Special Events team works extremely hard to deliver excellence and innovation, and help event organisers to achieve their own waste and environmental goals, so to be recognised by our peers is very rewarding.”

Grundon was shortlisted for its work at the three-day CarFest South event in August. Held at Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire, every year it raises thousands of pounds for BBC Children in Need.

Nearly 45,000 people attended this year’s event - including some 15,000 campers - and together they generated around 100 tonnes of waste. Not only did Grundon achieve the target of zero waste to landfill, but they also increased the recycling of plastic and cans and introduced aerosol recycling for the first time.

In another new move, the team designed a waste-related game, with answers on 12 specially-designed ‘Grundonian’ themed character waste bins across the site and a fun maze of 200 x 1100 litre Grundon waste bins. Dozens of entries were received, with prizes including a family pass to CarFest South 2018.

CarFest Operations Manager, Andrew Hunter, said after the event that Grundon had made sure there were plenty of positive waste management messages delivered in a way that was engaging for everyone attending, and had also helped to raise more money for charity by increasing recycling and keeping costs down.
