Bishop's Cleeve charity receives boost from Grundon

The St Michael’s Centre, a Bishop’s Cleeve based charity, has had a complete refurbishment of its kitchen facilities, thanks to Grundon Waste Management.

Grundon, which helps Gloucestershire businesses divert waste from landfill for recycling and energy recovery, contributes to local community projects via the Landfill Communities Fund.
The Bishop’s Cleeve based charity is run entirely by volunteers and offers vital support to local residents; providing a lifeline for households in crisis and older people living in isolation. Their outreach programmes work to engage with disadvantaged families; running the Bishop’s Cleeve Foodbank in conjunction with Trussell Trust.

Funding from Grundon Waste Management in 2014 supported the complete refurbishment of the charity’s kitchen facilities enabling them to offer regular lunch clubs to local elderly people and put on events for all members of the community.
Daniel Peacey, Business Development Manager at Grundon, said: “This year Grundon’s contribution has enabled the St Michael Centre to completely reorder and refurbish essential toilet facilities to bring the centre up-to-date, create more space for larger numbers of people and increase accessibility.”
Jacqueline Dyer of St Michael’s Centre said: “The rearrangement and refurbishment of our aged toilets will have a huge impact on users. The Centre now has beautiful facilities, visitors with mobility issues can move around the building freely and we have more space to hire out to local people. A huge thank you to Grundon.”
The newly constructed toilet facilities are part of a larger improvement project which includes a two-story building extension, an enlarged lobby and the creation of a new access corridor, plus an additional kitchen and food store. These major improvements have been funded by funding bodies, private donors and the centre’s own fundraising efforts.
